Detailing & Considerations of Stone  installation

The calibration or, "tolerance of calibration" varies considerably from country to country & suppliers. This impacts the thickness & the physical dimensions. So when you combine different materials, (The imbedded photos show, Absoluto Nero granite combined with Portuguese Molianos to form the chequer board pattern.) there can be considerable differences. For this project we purchased slabs & cut all of the materials ourselves, additionally we milled the materials to ensure a uniformity of thickness. 

Some considerations in the selection of stone materials are:

1. Aesthetic appeal & design intent.

2. Durability & fitness for proposed purpose.

3. Budget. 

4. Availability.

5. Calibration of materials from different sources.
